Walking Holiday In Spain … Minorca

If you’re thinking of visiting Spain this year for your vacation then you should consider visiting the island of Minorca. Minorca is a small island which lies north east of north eastern side of Majorca. The city is very popular for walking holidays in Spain.
The island of Minorca has a lot of history behind it, as it was occupied by different nations in the past, including the Greece, turkey, Arab nations, England as well as Romans. It has at least forty historical sites for tourists to explore. Walking around the island is gentler compared to other parts of Spain; however experienced walkers who want a challenge can take up the islands highest peak, Monto Toro.

Mahon
Mahon is the islands capital city. Like other cities of Minorca it is filled with historical buildings from its previous rulers. There is also a mansion in which lord nelson lived called the golden farm, from inside you can see the magnificent view of the harbor. The city harbor is a beautiful place where many tourists walk through.
Ciutadella
Ciutadella is a small town in the island; it also serves as a major port. The town has more of a traditional Spanish feel to it. It is perfect for exploring on foot. It has some historic graves, the Navetas, a unique one is the Naveta dels Tudons, which is shaped like bow of a ship, and stands about two stories high.
Airports
The islands’ airport is located on the south eastern part of its capital city; Mahon, due to its popularity there is a large number of airlines going there and so its very easy to reach Minorca from anywhere in the world.
The island of Minorca as explained above offers exciting features as many other destinations for walking in Spain.
