We all want out homes to be comfortable and we generally put a lot of effort into it. When it comes to the design of our interiors, texture is the most or one of the most important things to consider. It gives a wonderful additional dimension to the room’s design. For example, you can see at once if the owner used cheap wallpaper because the impression it makes is one that is quite flat and absolutely different from the one quality wallpapers create. The same works for rugs. When you want quality, you should pay attention to texture.

You can buy a huge variety of carpets and rugs, all different in color, texture, and quality. Sure enough you can go to the store and buy a textured carpet for a cheap price. But the quality won’t be great. In this case, you will usually end up with a synthetic substitute where producers burn the texture into the pattern. You might have seen that kind of rug or carpet.

When looking for a high quality rug, we need to consider the length of each fiber, and the manufacturing process which means the pile remains twisted or smooth. Such a rug should have texture which was created by the individual strands used in making the pile. When we talk about a shag rug or shaggy rug, it means it is formed with the longest pile or fibers.

Take a look at your living room. Is it all clean, flat and missing some life? Then, maybe, adding some texture would change the room significantly. There are different ways to do this. Texture can be added with grass or plants, some people prefer cushions or paintings or some other works of art. However, if you think of having an instant effect, try adding shaggy rugs to your floor. They are extremely comfortable to walk on and they add color as well as comfort. The best surface to place a shaggy rug on could be marble tiling or wood flooring. In this case the contrast between the smooth floor and the textured rug will give you great results.
