Millions of men have had to face the embarrassment and stress caused by hair loss. There is one method that works great for treating bald spots of the scalp. It is the hair implantation procedure where hair implants or hair plugs (old term), which are living healthy hair units, are taken off from one area of the body or scalp and then these are transplanted into the scalp area where there is obvious hair loss. After a few weeks, these hair follicles are actually bonded with the existing blood vessels so they can receive the necessary nutrients and oxygen. The follicles can begin producing keratin which is the hair shaft material and they will keep on growing for several decades.

A few decades ago, the method had a result that made the implants very obvious. When these patches were implanted into the scalp, the result was comparable to the head of a cheap plastic doll where its artificial hairs were plugged into several places of the head. The hair grew again but in whichever way it wanted so it was very recognizable.

Because of the new techniques being utilized nowadays by cosmetic surgeons, this old method has been thrown out. Today, a surgeon is capable of removing and inserting hair units one by one. He can also place these hair units individually into the balding area so that they can have the same directional growth as the other surrounding natural hairs. Because of this change in procedure, and the fact that the donated hair is from the patient’s own head, the outcome is very natural looking. You have probably come across a lot of men who have had this great surgery but you never notice they have hair implants because of how natural the hair implants look.
