When there are a lot of active kids in the house running around, you’re bound to have a situation where a couple of doors will be swung open a bit too hard. This can cause the door knob to slam into the wall causing damage to both the wall and the knob. What you can do is get a door stop. There are a couple of benefits to having door stops. There is the functional side and the decorative side. Let’s take a look at both.
When a door gets swung open a bit too hard, the result can cause a dent or even a hole in the wall. Kids aren’t the only ones who accidentally throw the doors open like this, adults do it sometimes as well. There are different types of stops that you can get for your doors to prevent this from happening. There are mainly three spots that you can install the stops. The first is at the bottom corner of the door. This can be installed directly on the door or on the wall. These types of stops need to be longer than the door knob for this to work. It also needs to have some sort of spring to reduce the impact and prevent damage. The other spot is at the top corner with the same rules applying. The last spot is where the door knob would hit the wall. Normally, you would put a rubber door stop at that contact point.
Now with the decorative side, there are a lot of different designs and styles of stops that you can get. There are some really artistic and fun designs out there such as a stop that looks like some guy holding out his hand or stops that depict animals. You can use these stops for any of the doors in your home, even pantry doors. These can be found and bought online. There are a ton of different ones to choose from.
