Diets That Work

Diets that work tend to be nutritious permanent eating lifestyles.  Changing eating lifestyles is the only way to successfully lose weight and keep it off.  This leads to a very important criterion in helping you choose a diet that is right for you: examine each prospective diet to determine if you could adopt it as your permanent lifestyle.  If the diet is heavily calorie restricted, take into account the fact that after attaining your desired weight you should be able to increase your caloric intake so that weight loss ceases and your desired weight is maintained.  The important thing to remember is that diets that work involve food that you enjoy.  Fad diets that severely restrict the types of foods that you eat are simply not healthy and should never be a part of a healthy lifestyle.

Another important aspect is to do some research to determine what your correct body weight is and what a normal caloric intake should be for you. These factors are influenced by sex, height, and age.  A Google search will readily find tables containing this type of information.
